Because Creative Curriculum is a play based curriculum, my ideal setting would be children learning through their play centers and in a sense their "natural environment."
Creative Curriculum is created for young children and focuses on the development of the whole child rather than just academics. Even the physical objectives can be touched on in writing centers or during writing activities. For example, uses fingers and hands (tracing sand letters,) and uses writing and drawing tools, (using paint brushes, pencils, crayons, markers, ect.), would be able to be addressed during writing activities. Language and cognitive skills can assessed during writing activities. While writing our poem of what we saw outside, I can observe which children are struggling with language comprehension and create situations in order to help this skill. Some cognitive objectives are, attends and engages. Again, this could easily be observed during a writing activity. Overall, teaching the whole child is a wonderful thing because so many areas can be touched on during multiple activities. These all help play into the writing activities I do in my class. |
